VIII•XXVIII•MMXIX – DAY 39 & 40
Monday, August 26
It’s the first day of the Daniel Fast the church community is taking part in. Many of us interns are praying for what the Lord is doing in the church and in our own hearts. It’s hard, we’re all feeling it (I’m sure not as much as we will two weeks from now) but I believe the Lord is going to do something great!
Our classes this week are on the Sermon on the Mount. It’s very convicting but in the best way possible; the grace and heart of God are so beautiful and He truly gave us exact instructions on how to live this life. His way brings more joy and happiness than any way of this world. Of course, that doesn’t make it easy. His way is contrary to how society lives and how humanity lives, but it’s building our future in eternity. I’m really enjoying this week’s class topic!
Tuesday, August 27
I feel like this day gets longer every week. Starting at 1 we have classes back to back with only an hour break (not including our dinner – but even that doesn’t last long!). Don’t get me wrong it was filled with great information; we continued to learn about the sermon on the mount and the importance of the “beatitudes” Jesus starts out with. Then we had a class at IHOPU teaching us on fasting, and that evening a guest speaker spoke to us.
He taught us how tough prayer – the kind where you have to come to terms with your brokenness in front of God – is the kind that pushes you forward in the Spirit. We can pray the ‘fun prayers’ every day all day, prayers that feel more like reading a list than crying out to God. However, if you only pray the fun prayer then over time you may find yourself ‘spiritually lonely’. It takes sitting in front of God, just you and Him, and feeling the weight of your life and letting Him fill you and comfort you.
I don’t know if any of that made complete sense, but it was a powerful sermon! The rest of the night was a normal evening in the prayer room. I’m glad Tuesday is over for the week, but I’m always happy with all I learned!
Thanks for reading. xx
