Before the summer began I thought it would be easy not having access to a car. I had a brand new bike, my boyfriend lived right around the corner, what could go wrong? I apparently forgot about rainy days when no one is available to hang out. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to entertain myself. College is great at giving you something to do. So on this rainy Saturday, I did what any young adult without a car would do – slept in and watched Netflix. I went through maybe 4 episodes of The Good Place before I started feeling too lazy. I hung out with my Host some as well. I helped him with a task and we ate lunch together!
You know the feeling after you’ve spent too much time sitting in bed? When your eyes have been glued to a screen until they feel heavy and dry? [Side note – I’ve thought about getting those new blue lenses that block the harmful rays from your eyes. However, I also need new prescriptions to be able to see and I think that comes first.] Anyway, I hit that point and decided to take a look at the weather and saw a window of sunshine before the rain and lightning returned. After putting on some shoes and shoving my laptop and a book into my backpack; I walked down to the nearby cafe for a smoothie and to write. Once I arrived I realized it closed in an hour, so I bought a smoothie and made the best of the weather. I took a walk until I saw the clouds rolling back then returned to my room to watch a movie.
It was a brief moment of sun, but it was refreshing and just hot and humid enough to drive me back indoors. The rest of the afternoon and evening I spent with my boyfriend, hanging out and watching a movie. It’s best to take advantage of the sun, but it’s also nice to chill on Netflix and relax after a week of work. Yes not having a car may mean boring days, but I think I’ll survive. Right?
Thanks for reading. xx
