The Love Of…

VSCO hb2

The love of a friend is different than the love of your husband. The love of God is different than the love of food. We use the same word to describe our favorite movie and our family, yet the feeling behind each one is completely different. Some languages have more than one way to say, love, the Bible has 4 different words; agape, storge, philia, and eros. Those are characterized by a godly love, family love, brotherly (friendship) love, and romantic love. I won’t give you a theology lesson and go into depth on each word; but haven’t you ever wished the English language had something like that? More than one word to describe the love of something or someone?

Recently, in my own life, I looked at the love of a friend, thought about the love of romance, and what I’ve learned about the unconditional love of God. My life has been messy, I have not been perfect in loving and in receiving the love of others, but I’ve learned something. Over the next month or two, I’m going to write three posts on how I view these loves. The Love of a Friend, the Love of Romance, and the Love of God. They’re just a fun way of expressing what I’ve felt and a project I’ve wanted to do for a while.

They won’t be perfect, and you may feel different, but I’m not writing to say what’s set in stone; just what I’ve learned in my own life. I’ll post the first one next Monday (4/8)!

I will also continue writing about adventures I have (posts like True North), and I also want to branch out and write more casual posts. My goal is to post at least twice a month, on the first and third Monday of each month. Sometimes they may be on different dates, or I might post more one month. Bare with me as I figure out how I want this blog to run and how often I’m able to post!

Thank you all for supporting me in this. I hope you enjoy my posts as much as I enjoy creating them!

Thanks for reading! xx

(PS. These pictures have nothing to do with the post, I just felt like adding them in!)
